My mother got me admitted to a dance school when I was very young. Back then I use to go twice a week but gradually it became six days a week. I did not even realise when I fell in love with Dancing and it became my first priority. I started learning Latin American dance forms.
I attended many International Dance Festivals held in different part of India, participated in championships completions and won some of them. Then I did my training in Zumba became a Zumba instructor. Dancing is my first love. It makes my life complete. I cannot think of life without dance.
I started dancing at an early age. It has always attracted me with its beauty and still love the way it makes me feel. Since it was my favorite I was always chasing for more knowledge and that's how I joined my first dance class, practised and later I joined Hybrid crew where I met more people like me we used to share our art and grow together Later I started attending workshops and continued learning this art.
There's a long way to go though...
I was always a very focused person. My ambition was to become a Lawyer from my childhood but dancing is always my passion.
I was first introduced to Bharatnatyam. I was very popular for my funloving nature and dancing during my school & college days. Being a B.A.LL.B student I found my life was becoming very monotonous and decided to become a ZUMBA instructor, as through Zumba everyone gets a chance to be active, flexible, socialize and jam out to their favourite music.
Because I feel 'Dance' is a symbol of communication which brings out the innermost feeling so I decided to take ZUMBA as my profession in spite of being an advocate.
I started dancing at the early age. Did many competitions as well and from then I knew if I could do something good in life then it has to be in Dance. Because whenever I dance there's so much I could express through it, the things which I couldn't express with my words.
Spend almost 4 years of my life with my crew named as " Hybrid Crew ".
Won District level competition together back in 2015.

I am Mrittika Datta, I was 4 years old when my Guruji introduced me to “TAAL”. My journey started back then. I have been to places like Mumbai, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha and Kolkata and gathered knowledge about different dance forms. I have been trained in different classical dance forms such as Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Kalaripayattu and Kathak. Finally I found the dance form that defines me “KATHAK”. I have been learning and teaching contemporary dance for more than 10 years. Dance to me is an expression of self where we use not only our body, but also our mind and emotions. Dance is the visual representation of celebrating myself.
They say, ‘Dance is a way to find yourself and lose yourself, all at the same time’.
One may define dance as the movement of a person’s feet and body, usually accompanied by music. To me, however, dance means more than that. Started dancing for fun when I was young and took it professionally along the way. Dance for me is my life. It is the biggest part that defines my personality. It has taught me discipline, emotions, strength, togetherness, vulnerability all at the same time. The one thing that can always cheer me up is dancing! It puts a smile on my face and fills my heart with joy!!
Zumba! The program that has made people all over the world dance their way to fitness has been a part of my life since June 2011. As one of the first ZIN-certified instructors in the city, I was privileged to be one of the first people to offer Zumba classes in Kolkata.
Apart from fitness, Zumba has been important for me in two ways. With Zumba, I have been able to reach out and spread the sheer joy of joy of dance to many more people. This is because Zumba uses dance to bring about fitness, but it is not about performance. There is no intimidation factor, no competition, no performance anxiety. It is the joy of being able to respond to music without worrying about exact technique. Yet, this has specific goals. The only difference? The achievable is fitness.
