I am Mrittika Datta, I was 4 years old when my Guruji introduced me to “TAAL”. My journey started back then. I have been to places like Mumbai, Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Odisha and Kolkata and gathered knowledge about different dance forms. I have been trained in different classical dance forms such as Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Kalaripayattu and Kathak. Finally I found the dance form that defines me “KATHAK”. I have been learning and teaching contemporary dance for more than 10 years. Dance to me is an expression of self where we use not only our body, but also our mind and emotions. Dance is the visual representation of celebrating myself.
Dancing with your feet is one thing, but I dance with my heart. It's not only my passion but also my way of life. It sets me free and I feel fully alive to each and every moment of my life while I am dancing.
I discovered the love for dancing at the age of 3, started my journey of dance with formal training in Bharatanatyam from Kalamandalam at the age of 6. Since then have tried different styles of dancing like Semi-classical, Folk, Rabindrik,

They say, ‘Dance is a way to find yourself and lose yourself, all at the same time’.
One may define dance as the movement of a person’s feet and body, usually accompanied by music. To me, however, dance means more than that. Started dancing for fun when I was young and took it professionally along the way. Dance for me is my life. It is the biggest part that defines my personality. It has taught me discipline, emotions, strength, togetherness, vulnerability all at the same time. The one thing that can always cheer me up is dancing! It puts a smile on my face and fills my heart with joy!!
Zumba! The program that has made people all over the world dance their way to fitness has been a part of my life since June 2011. As one of the first ZIN-certified instructors in the city, I was privileged to be one of the first people to offer Zumba classes in Kolkata.
Apart from fitness, Zumba has been important for me in two ways. With Zumba, I have been able to reach out and spread the sheer joy of joy of dance to many more people. This is because Zumba uses dance to bring about fitness, but it is not about performance. There is no intimidation factor, no competition, no performance anxiety. It is the joy of being able to respond to music without worrying about exact technique. Yet, this has specific goals. The only difference? The achievable is fitness.
Dancing has always been a short-cut to HAPPINESS. Born and brought up in the small town of Jamshedpur with very little avenues to explore western dance, he had never imagined he would be able to learn and teach and grow with dance as a primary profession.
But hard work and belief in himself has seen him come a long way through a journey of six years. He has choreographed and won numerous state level competitions, school/college competitions and has also been part of some reality shows.

It's been almost over a year that I'm associated with TWIST N TURNS and the experience here is just great. Being with the TWIST N TURNS family is a dream come true, especially the classes I did under Nikita Ma'am, taught me a lot. She has been an ideal role model. Her creativity and and the way she handles her classes inspired me a lot.
I started dancing when I was 18. After a year of random training I joined TWIST N TURNS. I did my diploma in Dance here.I learned under Tapas Das and Prasanna Saikia. They helped me to improve my dancing skills, and also motivated me a lot. Its been couple of years that I have been dancing, and now this is not only my passion, but rather my language. I feel alive when I dance. According to me- "Most people aren't born dancers, they evolve into dancers"- and I too am one of them. Anyone can be a dancer; all you need is something in your heart- that you want to express".
