My name is Karishma Chopra, and I proudly serve as the Center Manager at Twist N Turns Dance Studio in Salt Lake, Kolkata. Reflecting on my journey, it's remarkable to see how my career path led me to this vibrant role in the world of dance, creativity, and inspiration.
The Early Steps
My professional journey began quite far from the dance floor. Initially, I stepped into the corporate world as a Customer Care Executive at IBM Daksh, focusing primarily on the Airtel Prepaid Circle. My experience in customer support taught me invaluable lessons about patience, empathy, and effective communication, essential skills that I continue to utilize daily.
The foundational years at IBM Daksh opened doors to new opportunities, and soon, I found myself exploring roles in well-known companies like TCS and TIME Institute. Each experience enriched my understanding of operational management, team leadership, and client relations. Working at these organizations not only expanded my professional expertise but also instilled a deep sense of discipline and organizational efficiency.
Joining Twist N Turns – A New Chapter
On October 1, 2020, I embarked on a significant new chapter when I joined Twist N Turns Dance Studio. Although my professional background was not rooted in dance, the vibrant energy and creativity that filled the studio quickly captured my heart. Walking into an environment so different from my previous corporate roles was initially intimidating, yet deeply inspiring. The studio's atmosphere resonated with my inner creativity, igniting a passion that has since become a cornerstone of my professional identity.
I vividly remember the warmth and enthusiasm with which Tapas Sir and Nikita Ma’am welcomed me into the Twist N Turns family. Their trust and guidance helped me transition smoothly into my role as the Center Manager of the Salt Lake studio, a space bustling with talented dancers and aspiring artists of all ages.
Discovering Passion in Movement
Even though I do not come from a formal dance training background, I quickly discovered how dance uniquely expresses universal emotions such as happiness, confidence, and celebration. Watching our students practice their routines and witnessing their performances during events sparked a profound appreciation for the art form. Every beat, rhythm, and movement tells a story, and being able to contribute to these stories from an organizational standpoint has been incredibly fulfilling.
Dance, I realized, has the power to transform lives by promoting not just physical health, but also emotional and mental well-being. It became clear to me that my role as Center Manager went beyond operational duties—it was about creating a nurturing space where creativity and passion could flourish.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my role at Twist N Turns is building genuine relationships with students and their families. Managing the Salt Lake studio has allowed me to engage closely with our community, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual respect. Events such as "Dancing Wonders," which we have successfully hosted for three consecutive editions, hold a special place in my heart. Each event symbolizes growth—not only in terms of our students' artistic capabilities but also their confidence, teamwork, and dedication. Watching our young dancers step onto the stage with determination and pride is a source of immense joy and pride for me.
Leading with Purpose
Beyond event coordination, my role involves mentoring and onboarding new team members. I take immense pride in guiding new talent and integrating them seamlessly into our passionate team. Training and development have always been areas close to my heart, and at Twist N Turns, I have had the opportunity to shape a dedicated team that genuinely embodies our core values: creativity, dedication, and community spirit.
By fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous learning, we have cultivated a culture that empowers every team member to contribute their best, ensuring the studio's continued growth and success.
