Every December the same thing happens: someone says “let’s do a group dance at the New Year party” and then nobody knows where to start. The good news is that a party routine does not need to be hard. It needs a song everybody knows, a handful of simple counts, and one moment the room joins in.
At Twist N Turns we choreograph for friends’ groups, families and office parties across Kolkata. Call 9831018015 if you want help, or use the five ideas below to start on your own.

Five Party Routines That Work
1. The Bollywood Chorus Loop (best for mixed groups)
Pick one famous chorus and build a 16-count loop you repeat three times. Everyone learns one pattern; the repeats make it look polished. Add a different arm finish each repeat.
2. The Follow-the-Leader Zumba Session (best for non-dancers)
One person calls the moves; everyone copies. No memorising, no fear of mistakes. Good for office parties and big family groups.
3. The Couples’ Showcase (best for a warm-up moment)
Two or three couples do a 60-second set before the floor opens. Keep the routine to side-steps, a turn and a freeze. Our couple choreography guide explains the approach.
4. The Punjabi Pop Burst (best for high energy)
Short, loud, 90 seconds. Shoulders, claps and a jump on the beat. Easy to learn in two evenings.
5. The Countdown Surprise (best for a memorable midnight)
A flash-mob style entry: one dancer starts, others join at the chorus, everyone is moving by midnight. Needs five or six people and one rehearsal run-through on the actual floor.
How to Learn a Routine in Two Weeks
- Day 1: choose the song and cut it to 90 seconds to 2 minutes.
- Days 2–4: learn the chorus until everyone can do it without thinking.
- Days 5–9: add verses in 8-count blocks.
- Days 10–12: formations and transitions. Mark spots on the floor.
- Final two days: run it three times in your party clothes and shoes.
