Sreya’s Story
Sreya Biswas started in classical dance. She is a certified and trained Bharatanatyam dancer from Kalamandalam Calcutta, so rhythm, posture and expression were part of her training from the beginning.
Over the years she widened her range and mastered western dance, then kept learning on the Bollywood circuit. She has taken more than 50 Bollywood dance workshops, picking up choreography styles from different teachers and bringing them back to the studio floor.
Today she teaches Bollywood, and her reason is simple: it connects her with the song and with the people dancing to it.
On the Floor — Teaching at Twist N Turns
At Twist N Turns, Sreya teaches Bollywood at the New Alipore studio. Her current batch is a beginners level adult batch, so you can walk in without any dance background.
Her classical training shows in how she teaches. Counts stay clean, footwork stays tidy, and hand gestures and facial expression get as much attention as the steps, because that is what makes a Bollywood routine look finished rather than just memorised. Her 50+ workshops mean she has a wide library of song and choreography styles to draw on, so classes stay fresh.
Specialisations
- Bollywood — song-led choreography with expression, taught from the basics up
- Western dance — a foundation she mastered alongside her classical training
- Bharatanatyam background — certified and trained at Kalamandalam Calcutta, which shapes her rhythm and expression work
