Get On The Dance Floor 2015 was the second annual edition of Twist N Turns’ senior-student showcase. It brought dancers from every branch of the studio into one room — senior students, instructors, families, friends — for an evening of performances followed by a live Zumba set and an open dance floor.

The 2015 edition helped define the GOTDF format that still runs today: part showcase, part fitness party, part open-floor social dance — deliberately blended so that every person in the room ends the night on the floor.

Senior Dancers on Stage

The performance block featured senior members from every Twist N Turns branch. By 2015 the studio had already been running for a decade (founded in 2005), so the group on stage ranged from long-time regulars to newer dancers stepping into their first annual showcase.

Styles on the 2015 programme:

  • Salsa — partner work and Latin group numbers from the couples-dance batches.
  • Hip-Hop — high-energy group choreographies with clean formations.
  • Bollywood — chart-topping routines that drew the audience into the music.
  • Instructor segments — the teaching team’s own performances across styles.

The Live Zumba Set

Midway through the evening, the instructor team took over the stage for a full Zumba Fitness set — a hallmark of GOTDF from the early editions. The Zumba block is deliberately placed between the seated performances and the open-floor afterparty: it pulls the audience onto its feet and softens the line between “watching” and “dancing” for the rest of the night.

By the time the instructors called out the closing tracks of the Zumba segment, most of the room was already moving.

Open Dance Floor

Once the Zumba set closed, the format shifted into an open social dance floor for the whole community. The DJ ran a mixed set — Salsa, hip-hop, Bollywood, club anthems — and the distinction between performers and audience dissolved. Dancers, families, friends, and instructors were all on the floor together.

This open-floor close is what makes GOTDF feel different from a conventional recital. The evening doesn’t end with a curtain and applause; it ends with everyone dancing.

Why GOTDF Matters to the Studio

Get On The Dance Floor has been Twist N Turns’ flagship annual student showcase since 2014. It is not a competition, not a ticketed public show — it is an internal celebration for the senior students who have progressed through the year’s curriculum.

The reason the event matters: it gives every senior dancer — nervous first-timer or experienced regular — a real stage moment to work toward, followed by a social dance floor that reminds everyone in the room why they started dancing in the first place. That balance of discipline and celebration is what has made GOTDF a highlight of the studio’s calendar year after year.

By 2015 the format had already locked in: showcase → fitness set → open floor. Every edition since has built on it.
