JOJO’s Story

JOJO came into dance the way the best ones do — not as a structured plan, but as something he could not stay away from. Dance was the form of expression that made the most sense to him: physical, immediate, and honest in a way that words rarely manage.

Over the years he built a practice across multiple forms. Breaking gave him the power vocabulary and the floorwork roots. Bollywood gave him the crowd-facing energy and cinematic storytelling. Freestyle gave him the space to let all of it out without a script. Contemporary gave him the technical language to move between impulse and precision. Lyrical connected the physical to the emotional.

Each form added something. Together, they made him the instructor he is today.

A Decade at Twist N Turns

JOJO joined Twist N Turns in 2015 — and has never really left. In the studio world, where faculty change, seasons shift, and students move on, that kind of long-term presence means something. It means hundreds of students who have had him as their first dance teacher, or their best one. It means institutional knowledge that cannot be replicated.

What has kept him here is not habit. It is the teaching itself.

He is genuinely invested in his students’ growth — in the kid who walks in nervous and leaves the trial class smiling, in the adult who signs up thinking they cannot dance and proves themselves wrong by week three. Watching that happen, over and over, across a decade, is not something you walk away from easily.

His classes are known for the balance he strikes between technical rigour and creative freedom. He does not teach dance as a series of correct answers. He teaches it as an investigation — here is the technique, here is what it can express, now find your version of it.
