Dance is an integral part of Indian culture, and demand for quality dance education across Kolkata has never been higher. Twist N Turns is hiring passionate, qualified dance instructors to join an 8-studio network that has been setting the bar for professional dance training since 2005.

Join as Instructor — Twist N Turns, Kolkata

Why teach at Twist N Turns

  • Highest-paying dance employer in Kolkata. TNT is the only studio in the city that pays instructors on an hourly basis — transparent, contractual, no commission games.
  • 8 studios, one payroll. Pick up batches across Salt Lake, Ballygunge, Dum Dum Park, Ruby, New Alipore, New Town (AA1 and AA2), and Madhyamgram.
  • 100+ faculty colleagues. Work alongside Ballet, Hip Hop, Classical, Latin, Bollywood, and fitness specialists. Cross-pollinate your practice.
  • Professional studios. Sprung floors, full-wall mirrors, sound systems, changing rooms, waiting areas — you teach in a proper space, not a rented hall.
  • 21+ years of brand equity. TNT students and parents trust the brand, so your classes fill faster than they would as an independent.
  • Exposure. Our recitals, workshops, and social media feature our faculty regularly. Serious teachers grow their personal audience through TNT.

What TNT looks for in an instructor

  1. Genuine expertise in a specific form — recognised certification, dance degree, guru-shishya lineage, or significant performance experience.
  2. Specialisation over jack-of-all-trades — one form done brilliantly beats five done passably.
  3. Teaching ability — the patience, structure, and communication to break down complex movement for beginners, kids, and mixed-age batches.
  4. Performance background — working choreographers, stage artists, and competing dancers bring class energy that students remember.
  5. Cultural fit — inclusive, encouraging, punctual, and genuinely invested in student progress.
  6. Reliability — TNT runs on school-calendar semesters. If you commit to a batch, students and parents plan their year around you.

How to build toward a teaching role

If you are working toward a TNT application, the strongest candidates generally have:

  • Formal training — a recognised certification, a dance school diploma, or structured years under a guru.
  • Performance reel — two to three clean videos showing your technique and stage presence.
  • Some teaching hours — whether community classes, school workshops, or private students.
  • A social media footprint — even a modest Instagram / YouTube following signals you can draw students and handle visibility.
  • A specialisation — go deep in one form before widening.

The application process

  1. Email your CV to tapas@twistnturns.in with the subject line “Instructorship Job”.
  2. Attach or link performance videos, teaching clips, certifications, and a short note on which form(s) you teach and where you are based in Kolkata.
  3. Call 98310 18015 only if you need guidance — written applications are reviewed first.
  4. Shortlisted candidates are invited to a practical assessment at a TNT studio: a short performance piece, a sample class, and a conversation with the academic lead.
  5. Offer and onboarding — successful candidates receive a contract, rate card, studio placement, and a short TNT orientation covering class structure, attendance, safety, and communication norms.

Compensation

  • Hourly pay, disbursed monthly.
  • Rate set by your form, certifications, years of experience, and the age/level of the batch you handle.
  • Premium rates for classical gurus and internationally certified faculty.
  • No commission deductions, no hidden conditions, no delayed payments.
  • Incentives possible for faculty who take on examinations, workshops, or recital choreography beyond regular batches.

A word from the founder
